As the end of 2014 approaches, the stud can look back on a successful year-most particularly on the track.

Eighteen horses bred by Laundry Cottage Stud ran on the flat in 2014 and twelve were winners. Two horses earned black type-Kibaar in the Mill Reef and Kingoverthewater in the Grand Prix du Nord while Glenalmond was a fast finishing length adrift in fourth in the Gimcrack.

For the first time in quite a few years, prize money won by horses in training more than paid our training fees primarily due to earnings from Rivellino, Kingoverthewater and Glenalmond (including some Bobis and Racing Post Bonus prizes).

We were rewarded in the sale ring when Kingoverthewater sold at Arqana in November for 155k Euros and we were also able to sell a Goresbridge purchase-Glasgow Gailes-privately to the USA.

Contrastingly, the yearling sales were more difficult and we failed to sell a nice Pour Moi filly with a good  page and she will go into training with Hugo Palmer and be  named “Fiftyshadesofpink” reflecting her slightly idiosyncratic  roan hue.

While our hardy stock performs well on the track, we seem unable to sell for appropriate prices and so it is likely that we will revert in 2015 to prepping our sales horses but consigning them through other channels.

In the short term though, we will present 5 foals and 3 mares at Tattersalls in the next 10 days and hopefully they will find a home at fair prices.
