At Laundry Cottage Stud we pride ourselves on offering an excellent range of facilities designed to support the health, development and wellbeing of our mares and their offspring.
The stud extends across approximately 90 acres of prime, gently sloping pasture, providing a calm and natural environment where horses can thrive. The land sits on light clay underlain by chalk, producing strong grazing and helping to maintain high-quality pasture throughout the year.
Our setting provides a safe, peaceful and well-managed environment for mares, foals and youngstock. Horses benefit from plenty of turnout and carefully maintained paddocks, allowing them to grow, develop and socialise naturally while still receiving the daily care and attention required on a professional breeding farm.
Stabling & Yard Facilities
Laundry Cottage Stud offers 44 well-maintained stables, including specialist foaling boxes and isolation stables, ensuring we can provide appropriate accommodation for horses at every stage of the breeding cycle. The stabling is designed to be practical, spacious and safe, allowing mares and foals to be monitored closely during key periods such as foaling and early development.
Our yards are supported by 24-hour CCTV coverage, allowing constant monitoring of the barns and surrounding areas. With staff living on site, the horses receive round-the-clock supervision and care, giving owners peace of mind that their stock are always being looked after.
Turnout & Paddocks
The stud benefits from a number of post-and-rail paddocks that provide secure and well-maintained turnout areas for mares and youngstock. These paddocks allow horses to spend the majority of their time outdoors in a natural environment while still being safely contained.
For horses requiring more controlled management, we also have small turnout pens that are particularly useful for horses returning from injury, those needing restricted exercise, or mares and foals during transitional periods.
Exercise & Training Facilities
To support the development and conditioning of our horses, the stud is equipped with several facilities designed to aid daily exercise and handling.
Our horse walkers allow horses to exercise safely and consistently in all weather conditions, helping maintain fitness while reducing strain. We also have a lunge pit, which is ideal for early handling, controlled exercise and groundwork with young horses.
The ménage provides a safe and enclosed space for schooling, handling and preparation work, particularly useful when preparing young horses for sales or further training.
Veterinary & Management Facilities
Maintaining the health and wellbeing of every horse is a key priority. The stud is equipped with veterinary stocks, allowing routine examinations and treatments to be carried out safely and efficiently. These facilities make it easier for our veterinary team to perform procedures while ensuring minimal stress for the horse.
We also have weigh scales on site, allowing us to carefully monitor the growth and condition of mares, foals and youngstock. Regular weight tracking helps ensure horses are developing correctly and allows feeding programmes to be adjusted where necessary.
