We were delighted when Rebecca Hillen’s mare Via Sistina, bred here at Laundry Cottage Stud Farm, ran out an impressive winner of the Group 2 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket .

Hopefully she is a second Group 1 winner in the making for the stud.

The first was Wootton Bassett and the one that got away was his full brother, Glenalmond, who beat a future Group 1 winner in his debut maiden , was 3/4 length never nearer 4th to Muharrar in the Gimcrack after meeting trouble in running and then was injured in the Champagne stakes. If only!

One more to foal here, Wake Up Call expecting to Mohaather and almost a week overdue.

This year the mares have visited Havana Grey,Kameko, Harry Angel Showcasing, Lope de Vega, Ulysses, Bated Breath, Cracksman, Territories and Wakey will visit Nathaniel.

We have members of a pinhookng syndicate for whom we board and prep yearling visiting later this week and we are hoping the weather holds fro them to see the stud at its best.

Grassland management has been more tricky this year than we can ever remember with so much rain. Wet, fast growing spring grass has been hard to get topped and the machinerey does not appreciate these conditions either.

On the track, we are looking forward to Loch Carron , who we part own, running in the next week and Churros, at month end. Made in China will take a bit longer but the reports are good so far.
