Since last writing, the Stud has continued to have winners. Kingoverthewater has now won twice in France, Horsforth won at Beverley from the worst possible draw, Lochalsh (owned but not bred) won well at Ffos Las and looks set to improve, Glasgow Gailes-who we bought at the Goresbridge Breeze Up-won his maiden well at Windsor and Jimmy’s Girl got off the mark in a seller at Lingfield. Gipsy Doll got on the right track and ran third at Brighton and she will hopefully go two better next time.

In the coming days we have Lipstickandpowder making her debut at Newmarket, Rivellino hopefully running in the Listed Hopeful Stakes at Newmarket and Glenalmond-rated an astonishing 74 by the handicapper after his first time out win-due to run within the next 10 days. He has an entry still in the Gimcrack, in a Newmarket nursery and in the Ripon 2 year Old Trophy Listed race.

The yearlings are now in to be prepped. We have a Wootton Bassett colt and a Canford Cliffs filly destined for Tatts Part 1, an Invincible Spirit filly (whose full brother is now a winner post catalogue printing), a Pour Moi filly and a Kyllachy colt for Tatts Part 2 and a Holy Roman Emperor filly, a Champs Elysees filly and a Roderic O’Connor colt for Part 3.

The foals are gradually being weaned and are all coming along well with good body weights, heights and condition across the board. With the help of Polly Bonner from Saracen, we hope to keep them that way as they mature.

Thoughts will be turning to HIT, Mare and Foal sales and what we will present there. Also to covers for 2015. At this stage, we are impressed with Shamardal’s performance this year and with the winners that Lope de Vega is having. Of the UK new sires, Showcasing has had a great start also and we liked his yearlings in 2014. Equiano also looks promising, as increasingly for Newsells Park does Mount Nelson. We sold the unraced Peintre Celebre mare Saturday Girl a few years back in foal to Mount Nelson and the resulting colt-Room Key –has done really well as a 2 year old.

We had La Adelita covered at the very end of the season by Kodiac but she didn’t take so we will hope to go back there in 2015-he is again proving to be a star. Then there are the Laundry Cottage staples like Kyllachy and Iffraaj who continue to do well.

Slade Power looked a picture when he won the July Cup at Newmarket and hopefully we can think of using him also next year. Of course we will send a nice mare to Wootton Bassett who was bred at Laundry Cottage and if his first crop yearling which we have and is for sale in Tatts 1 is anything to go by, he will do well.

More in a few weeks time.
