The first foals have arrived at the stud. Wake Up Call produced a strong bright bay filly by Acclamation and Piece of Cake delivered a nice bay filly by Kyllachy (with a nice scopey back leg) a few days later on 1st February.

It is always amusing to read the comments from the major studs in the trade press about their new born foals. The phrase “ full of quality” seems much overused but such is the necessary hyperbole as marketing kicks into top gear on day 1!!

We are happy that they come out healthy and that the mare has an easy time. When they get to the sales ring and the track, we will find out if they really are full of quality-even if at this stage they are  all gifts of nature and swans rather than ducks.

There are two other ladies in waiting at this point-Pinch of Posh expecting to Excelebration and Bit by Bit expecting to Lawman. Fingers crossed that they deliver healthy foals who are “full of quality”!

Fly Free goes through the ring at Tattersalls on Thursday expecting (the vet believes) a colt by Kyllachy.  As we have a Dansili filly from that family-the mum Gipsy Moth has served us so well-we decided to present her for sale. She will probably go on the market at around £20-25k and we will happy to let anyone interested know the reserve prior to her entering the ring.

Witchy Woman –in training with Karl Burke-also goes to the sale. She is a straightforward, improving filly and Karl believes she will win again over 7/8f. Hopefully she can find a good home and she will probably go on the market at around £8k and again, we will be happy to let interested parties know the reserve before she goes into the ring.
